Top 9 Best Restaurants in Anchorage Alaska

Here’s a list of some of my favorite restaurants in Anchorage. I look for places that are beautiful, have delicious food (of course), and good vegan options… I’m not fully vegan, but most of what I eat is dairy free. Anyway, here are 13 of my favorite places… and most of them are pretty instrammable too.

1. South Restaurant and Coffee House

I love this restaurant so much. The decor and architecture is beautiful, slightly rustic, and modern. It’s the place to go for good food and a beautiful atmosphere. I recommend making reservations before going, they’re always busy, especially on weekends.

It’s located in south Anchorage at 11124 Old Seward Hwy. They’re open Sunday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Friday – Saturday 8:00 AM – 9:30 PM.

2. Simon and Seaforts

Another awesome restaurant! The food here is absolutely amazing and they have a really good lavender martini. The ambiance is alluring, warm and classic. And at the same time it’s still pretty spacious although there’s usually a full house. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance for this one, especially on weekends.

It’s located in Downtown Anchorage at 420 L St. They’re open everyday of the week from 11:30AM – 9:00 PM and Friday – Saturday they close at 10:00 PM.

3. The Crow’s Nest

Amazing restaurant located at the top of the Captain Cook. Beautiful mountain views and delicious food. They also have some delicious chocolate cake. This is the place to get to impress or be impressed while still getting the Alaskan views.

It’s located in Downtown Anchorage at 939 W 5th Ave. They’re open Tuesday – Sunday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM. They’re closed on Mondays.

4. Kincaid Grill

Beautiful high-end restaurant. Amazing food and wine. Definitely on the pricey side too but totally worth it. This place is low key elegant and intimate.

It’s located in south Anchorage at 6700 Jewel Lake Road. They’re open Tuesday – Saturday 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Closed on Mondays.

5. Altura Bistro

I love this place! It’s gorgeous, modern, and has mouthwatering food. I like eating here for lunch and dinner. The ambiance is beautiful, relaxing and it still feels new. The steak and chicken sandwiches are delicious.

It’s located in Midtown Anchorage at 4240 Old Seward Highway. They’re open Wednesday – Sunday 11 AM – 2 PM and 5-9PM.

6. Ginger

I absolutely love their peach martinis and the dark and intimate this restaurant has. The food is asian inspired with some good vegan and gluten free options. I love the flavors they use in their food, it’s usually more savory. This is a great place to go for a date or a girls night out. I also love their bar area, it’s spacious and nice plus you don’t need reservations to sit in it. Which is nice because they can get pretty busy on weekends.

7. Serranos

This is a new favorite of mine. I’m obsessed with their chicken street tacos. They’re so freaking good. I also love the vibe here. The interior design is gorgeous, eclectic, modern, and rustic. I love that the lights are dimmed and they always have unique atmospheric music playing. It’s such a vibe and makes me feel sensational and happy. They do an amazing job captivating the senses.

It’s located in Midtown Anchorage at 201 E Norther Lights Blvd. They’re open every day of the week. Monday – Wednesday from 11AM – 10PM and Thursday – Saturday 11AM – 12 AM.

8. Glacier Brewhouse

This is one of the more popular restaurants here in anchorage. And with good reason. Their food is amazing and it has a very warming Alaskan vibe to it. My favorite thing to order here is the rosemary bread. It tastes so good, especially paired with the chive butter and fib spread that comes with it. They are always busy so I would definitely make reservations so you won’t have to wait.

It’s located in Downtown Anchorage at 737 W 5th Ave. They’re open everyday of the week from 11AM – 10PM.

9. Crush 

Crush is great. It’s the place to go for good wine and food. It feels more like a classy wine bar although it is a restaurant. I really like the atmosphere here and I prefer going at night or when it’s dark outside to feel and enjoy the full affect of the mood. I think it’s a beautiful place to go on a date or with a girlfriend or two but not for a group outing.

It’s located in Downtown Anchorage at 328 G St. They’re open Wednesday – Saturday 2PM – 9PM. Closed Sunday – Tuesday.
