What to do in Anchorage Alaska – How to have a Blissful weekend in the Summer

If you’re traveling to Alaska or just moved here and need some ideas on what to do, this post is for you. When I first moved here I had no idea, so here’s the perfect itinerary for a day here (while writing this I thought it would be best for a Saturday).

1. Arise early to watch the sunset

Wake up early, make a warm cup of peppermint tea (or coffee), bundle up into something cozy and go to earthquake park or the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge to watch the sunrise. 🌅

Morning walks feel so refreshing and invigorating. It’s the perfect way to start an Alaskan day in my opinion, plus the views are amazing here!

2. Visit Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop

I promise you will not regret it! This is my favorite bakery in Alaska. Sooo good. When you go be sure to try their scones. They are delicious. The raspberry lemon is my absolute favorite. It is so deliciously yummy and satisfying. I usually pair it with their camomile tea.

By the way, they have three different locations.

160 W 91st Ave (My favorite location)

1343 G St

2530 E 16th Ave

3. Drive to Girdwood and stop at Beluga Point for some epic Instagram pics

I absolutely love this drive and the stunningly scenic views. It is my favorite highway ever. It’s truly breathtaking. You’re pretty much driving along a mountain the entire time. It’s a bit scary but safe and worth it.

If you have the time I highly recommend stopping at Beluga Point on your way to Girdwood. When the tide is out it’s nice to walk barefoot in the clay (if you’re into that sort of thing, I know I am. Although it could be unsafe if you go out too far) with the sun shining on your face. The ambience of it all is so amazing and beautiful. You’ll get some great photos here!

4. Go to Seven glaciers for dinner up on the mountain or Jack Sprat (if they’re closed)

I love eating at seven glaciers, it gives you such the Alaskan experience. The views are stunning and the food is yum. Plus you get to eat at a five star restaurant on top of a mountain. It’s pretty epic.

Seven glaciers has weird hours sometimes so if they’re closed. I highly recommend Jacks Sprat. They have amazing sweet potato fries and drinks. Plus it’s such a cute restaurant. I love the set up in the back with the fire pit and lights hanging down above outside.

5. End the evening at the Williwaw on the rooftop bar

I think this is the perfect ending to a summer’s day in Alaska (Anchorage). The Williwaw is a beautiful rooftop restaurant/bar and the vibe is modern and fun. I love the music and the views are amazing. It’s located downtown at 605 F st.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know your summer ideas in the comment section below. ✨
