There are rituals and routines we can implement each night to increase our feelings of peace and happiness. How we finish our day affects how we sleep and feel the next day.
Set an alarm on your phone and commit to starting your routine at that time every night. It can be helpful to set a prealarm too. This will be useful if you’re in the middle of something and forget that your routine time is coming up.
Use warm lighting and surround yourself with things that make you feel happy and at peace within yourself. For me I use twinkle lights, my pink pillows and I have my pretty notebook and favorite pen for journaling.
When we take the time to make our space the way we want it and maximize our comfort, it feels more special. It also gives us something to look forward to each night.
I love doing yoga each night. It really calms me down and helps me to relax after a long day. It also get me in my body and in touch with my feelings. Helping me to release painful emotions. You could also do your own stretches if you’re not a yoga person.
Doing a guided meditation or a four count breathing meditation is also a great way to calm your mind and anxiety before bed. You can lead right into this after your yoga/stretches.
This is probably one of the most important ones here! Prayer and gratitude lifts stress off of me and refocuses my mind on all that is good. Nothing gives me a better release than surrendering my troubles to God and then focusing on the most lovely things in my life.
Write down all the things you want to do the following day. You can even use your notes app or equivalent if you have an android. This gets me feeling clear, excited and motivated for the next day. It also takes some of my stress away because I know I’m taking care of the important things in my life. I would actually recommend doing this first in your routine so it’s easier for you to relax into the other steps in your routine.
I hope you enjoy enjoy these four rituals and that they bring you more peace and happiness in your life. 💖
